Diamond watches are a very nice luxury to have. They speak to the status and elegance of the wearer and are just plain shiny. What is more embarrassing that falling down on the red carpet? Try having someone ask you what the time is and your $15,000 watch doesn’t work. Yeah, how lowbrow!

Keeping up with your watch’s maintenance is important even if you only wear it out occasionally. Typically for most of us a diamond watch is a luxury and a valued timepiece that we plan on keeping for a long time. Since we’re planning on keeping it around for a long time, shouldn’t we plan on making sure it runs for the time we have it?

Cleaning of your diamonds is something you can do with a q-tip and some warm water at home. However, if you are looking for that deep down diamond shine, it is suggested you have you watch cleaned by a professional. By this I do not mean at the local jewelry store franchise either. Try a watch maker. These guys know more about fine timepieces than anyone. Um, they are watch makers, it’s what they do.

Count your diamonds before you go out. Better than that make sure your diamonds are all secure. Facets can loosen over time and with wear. Lost diamonds from diamond watches are a sad thing. No one wants to see a diamond get orphaned. Use a magnifying glass to take a look and poke around some to check that the diamonds are all secure before you go out.

If you have a really nice diamond watch you no doubt do not wear it every day. It is a luxury piece meant for those times when you want to show off a little. Storing your diamond watch in a safe or sock drawer is a personal choice. Winding it is not. It is important to wind the watch whenever possible to keep the gears coated with the oil they need to run smoothly and avoid becoming bound up. Dry gears is a bad thing.

If you have additional crystals in your watch, make sure they are all in one piece. Even a hairline fracture can let in moisture which will damage your watch and cause all kinds of repair bills. If you see a loose or damaged crystal, have it replaced immediately.

Schedule time for a check up of your watch. Do this annually to avoid a break down of your watch and to have the facets changed and examined properly. Your magnifying glass trick is great in a pinch and highly recommended (I know, I recommended it) but a qualified watch smith has a better idea and a better eye than you do. They also will clean your watch and replace any bad parts.

Diamond watches are definitely nice and a sure sign of prosperity and class. Keeping up with the diamonds and the watch can be a double responsibility if you want to maintain that image. Remember to take care of your fine piece of engineering and it will make sure you know what time it is.

You do not have to worry about their being a store nearby that carries the correct batteries.

As an alternate, of course, you can pick up similar models that do use batteries. Not everyone is great at remembering to wind them up as needed. The stems on these are used to set them, rather than for winding up. Another advantage is that they are smaller than the others, the movements for a wound model is often much larger.

Some people do not like wearing them and, in such cases, they can purchase ones made for their pockets. To prevent accidental loss, they feature fobs that attach to your belt or belt loops. These can be found in both battery powered versions or ones that require winding. It is very easy to find a timepiece that suits your fashion sense.

You can take your pick from a great selection of wristwatches. You can opt for something plain that just tells time and has no other functions. If you want it to do more, you can select a fancier one that will serve many more purposes. Whatever you decide is right for you, you can be sure that wrist watches never really go out of style.
